Last Week in November

The last week in November has been a busy one. With the wet season just around the corner many divers took to the water this week and did not get disappointed.

We also saw a variety of tourists in Timor as well. 2 OW students from Singapore and UK. Divers from Singapore, a dutch instructor couple and tourist from Portugal and the USA.

They were treated to 10 mins playtime with the return of the curious dugong at Secret Garden. A yellow pipehorse at Sandy Bottom, a white seahorse and a white rhinopius at Scary Crab, plus leaf scorpionfish at both Dili rock and Scary Crab.

For those that are still in Timor dont miss the the last weeks of the dry season but for those that are coming in January we can still look forward to the muck diving season and all the critters that emerge.

Hope to see you all soon

Curious Kids

The kids at Behau village are always fascinated whenever we dive there. I think that they think we suck at fishing as we put all this gear on and dissappear for an hour, yet never come up with any fish!

Whenever the fish books come out though we get a captive audience!

Scary Crab is a Happening Place

Lots Happening At The moment at Scary Crab, Saw a Dugong feeding in the shallows, Spotted Some Allied Cowries, Two Green Leaf Scorpionfishes and Of course the now resident Lacy Scorpionfish... Be careful though, on the grassy Patch there is one mean Clark's Anemone Fish, attacked me twice today on the head, bit me several times on my hoodie... :)

A good sighting was also some Green Whip Coral Shrimps.

Be aware at Dili Rock as there are many Yellow Margin triggerfishes gaurding nests at the moment... Keep Low and well clear.

Night Dives at Dili Rock have been Especially eventful with many Pleurobranches being spotted as well as a Spanish Dancer.

Brownbanded Pipefish are a Regular now too, right at the start of the dive

Alot of tension going on, Spotted a Red reef Lobster defend its territory against a Scorpiofish... Red Reef Lobster 1 - Scorpionfish -0.

Sunday Dives

Sunday brought around the return (or at least spoting) of seahorses at Scary Crab. As we approach the start of the wet (still a month really away) we will get some amazing critter dives in the lower vis.

Yet right now vis is still high. Once again the group of squid at K41 are still dancing around just left of the entry and Turtles have been spotted at Marble Rock.

Deep Dive Delights

One of my favorite courses to teach is the Deep Dive Specialty and last weekend was no exception.

True to form it being the 2nd of November we had humpback whales spurting everywhere. In the surface interval one came up, spurted the gave us the whole tail display not 30 meters off of the reef, magnificent!

Both dives at K41 and Marble Rock were great with 30 meters visibility. Squid, Flying Gurnard, Leaf Scorpionfish, nudibranches mating, sea snake and harlequin filefish. Doesn't get much better than that.
